I met Eric Singer
Alice Cooper was in town on Oct 5th and i happened to bump into Eric at a downtown record store and he was a cool dude and very down to earth. When i asked him about Jake he just kind of rolled his eyes and said " That dude is a Dick " and i was like " Really " and he said that the whole " Badlands thing was the biggest mistake he ever made but he loved the songs " and then he signed an autograph and gave me a backstage pass which was cool as hell. Well anyway i had to work that night and couldnt go but it was cool to meat a great rock drummer anyway.

Cooool!
Great drummer!
I would have asked him a couple more questions tho'......like "what's it like to work for Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley?....Did you fill out a W-4 or do they 1099 you?"....and "Does wearing the make-up make it easier to play 'Detroit Rock City' for money?"
Disclaimer: Sorry to all the Kiss fans....but I've always though you'd have to be wearing a mask to seriously play that crap. Just my opinion, you understand.

I think the KISS makeup is a plus when you recall the Poison, Motley Crue, Cinderella and WASP make-up!

Yeah, that kind of made me angry too. Jakes a great guy.... Greg's a great guy too.
What really surprises me is everyone I've ever talked to who knows Paul Stanley says he's the dick.
I guess Eric Singer would rather play shitty songs in dated make-up for big money with an asshole like Paul Stanley than play great songs in a great band for little money with guys like Jake and Greg.
Just shows where his head is at.

Eric Singer is a dick, end of story. Sold his soul to the most over-rated band in the universe.
We may not all be perfect, but some of us do have integrity, how many bands has he been in?? playing someone else. At least Jake was/is his own man and won't be dictated to by a couple of money obsessed jerks. Ozzy and Sharon,Gene and Paul, $$$$$$$$$

If it wasn't for the silly make-up, the theatrical blood and the pyro they would have never measured up to the great bands of the era on the merits of the music alone.
The more recent material is better but that's because they HIRED great guitarists like Vinnie Vincent and Bruce Kulick.
Re: I met Eric Singer
Eric Singer is a great drummer. That being said, I find it hard to believe that Jake was a bigger dick than the KISS corporation. Perhaps the fact that they can pay a lot more money makes Jake a bigger dick than KISS.
Hey, I'm sure Jake thinks he's a dick too since they obviously don't get along...but he would probably have more class than to tell it that way to a fan.

I do find it easy to navigate my way through old KISS songs...they don't pose much of a challenge. I don't want to bash them too much...they did influence many of my favorite guitarists...but you make a good point.Deansolo wrote:Oh come on Robin!MetalHead wrote:oh come one Dean, KISS ain't that badYou know as well as I do, that "classic" (if you can call it that) KISS Is crap.
Any 3rd year guitar student can play that shit!

Re: I met Eric Singer
I have to laugh at a lot of things in this post. For one...Badlands was a great, great band but they made some bad business decisions. You can call it integrity or what you will...but if you are gonna make music your income there are some sacrifices to be made to keep the money coming in. Don't get me wrong...I admire the fact that Jake has stuck to his guns but that doesn't necessarily guarantee a paycheck. Personally, I don't think Jake is worried about that.
As for KISS...simple songs...great stage show. They are entertainers more than musicians and I think everyone here knows that. I've been around the business long enough that there is a compromise between integrity and keeping food on the table. I can't say that I hold anything against Eric for going out and playing music and getting the most dinero out of it. Hell...a first year guitar student can play that shit, LOL.
