METALLICA GOES SABBATH FOR ROCK HALL INDUCTION:

March 8, 2006

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Metallica will not only induct Black Sabbath into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday, but will also perform a short set of Sabbath songs.

Sabbath itself is not expected to perform during the black-tied event, which will take place at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

"Not only will we be inducting Sabbath, we are going to make a humble attempt at playing some of their songs live in front of the gathered masses, including, most humbling of all, the four members of the band themselves," Metallica said in a statement on its Web site.

"For all of us in Metallica, Black Sabbath are a major influence not only on our music, but on our lives, and as you can imagine, we're psyched to join Bill (Ward), Geezer (Butler), Ozzy (Osbourne) and Tony (Iommi) for the induction ceremony."

Metallica is gearing up for a run of South African dates later this month, in advance of eight European festivals in June and Japan's Summer Sonic Festival in August. The group is also moving ahead on its next studio album, which will be executive produced by Rick Rubin.

Also set to be inducted Monday are the Sex Pistols, who have said they will not attend, Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd and new wave band Blondie.

That was on the other night. Had to switch the channel, just couldn't stomach it!

I usually don't watch any of these "Award" shows. But I did catch Metallica doing Iron Man. I thought it was great. I also caught LEENERD SKEENERD doing "Sweet Home Bamalama" That also was great.

Don't get all mad....It's just my own opinion.
