Rock Star Supernova Starts Tonight
Gutterflower reminded me by reading her post on the Damnocracy thread about Supernova starting tonight. So, I thought I'd start a thread about it right off the bat.
Personally, I liked the show last year, so I'm looking forward to this one. There's a lady that tours with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra West Crew that I heard perform here in Johnson City last year that made the final cut for the show. She has an incredible voice, so I'm anxious to see what she does.

I'm looking forward to watching the house band. They were awesome last season.
I'm watching the show right now. The singers haven't been so hot

I heard 'Purple Haze' on the radio and ...... it made the hairs on the back of my neck stood up

How did some of those singers ever make the cut?

Good Lord! I don't know!Fretman wrote:How did some of those singers ever make the cut?
There appears to be a few good ones but, we're only one song into the show! I'm scurrrrrrred! I think scary Dilana chick gave Tommy a boner. Left him speechless, she did! Tommy, et al are ready to sign on the guy that sang last. Personally, the one I want to have another shot to sing is the guy that sang "Talks to Angels". I'll be interested to see that one again. Toby, too. And, I'm sorry but, even as hot as every guy probably thinks she is, the Mexican chick needs to gooooooo. Sadly, it's easier to pick the ones that should be cut than the ones that should stay.
Re: Rock Star Supernova Starts Tonight
So far I liked the guy that sang 'Rebel Yell' and the gal that sang 'Piece of My Heart'
I have trouble believing that a woman could front this band just because right away people will think Tommy Lee is screwing her.
Judging by the singers chosen, it's obvious that it's going to be more of a pop rock band instead of a hard rock/heavy metal band
Can Gilby Clark be a lead guitarist?

Re: Rock Star Supernova Starts Tonight
I like watching Tommy's reactions-the expression on his face when the one guy was doing the Coldplay song...and then he and Jason were laughing their asses off at the guy that did Roxanne. Baaad song choice. Gilby told him straight up, "Unfortunately, that sucked!"
I liked the Aussie, Toby. He was pretty good, and I also liked Patrice (Somebody To Love), Storm (Pinball Wizard) and Jill (Piece of My Heart). Lucas, the guy at the end, was aiiight. Gotta agree with Doobie, too-Zayra's got to go.
Which of the rockers was the girl who toured with Trans Siberian Orchestra?

Someone did say that on this board didn't they (about TSO)? I'm not aware which one it is but, if I was to take an educated guess it would be Jenny (skinny blond, played guitar). But, that's just my guess.

Re: Rock Star Supernova Starts Tonight
All those dudes looked gay, especially the last guy and Dilana..........I liked Jill. I think she has the look and the chops to front a hard rock band. But of course we'll have to see. Who is that producer guy? I've never heard of him......Who has he produced?
And yeah I think Gilby Clarke can be a lead guitarist. Anyone younger and I'd have my doubts. Gilby's a trained professional...if he couldn't do it he wouldn't be there with the other two IMO.

Jill is the one that sings for TSO! She freakin' nailed her performance last night too! She's very talented and unbelievably hot!Gutterflower wrote:I like watching Tommy's reactions-the expression on his face when the one guy was doing the Coldplay song...and then he and Jason were laughing their asses off at the guy that did Roxanne. Toby, so far, is another favorite of mine. The dude can sing for sure! The ex-baseball player has to gooooo! He sucks, no doubt about it!
Re: Rock Star Supernova Starts Tonight
Dean, the only reason I questioned Gilby playing lead is that he played rhythm for GNR, after the album was recorded. I know he was in another band before that, but after GNR I have no idea what he has done.
He just doesn't strike me as a lead guitarist. Maybe the music won't have many solos

I don't know but IMO, any professional rythym guitarist/recording artist that can't play solos might as well still be in the bedroom practicing. Just my opinion, you understand.LouZ wrote:Dean, the only reason I questioned Gilby playing lead is that he played rhythm for GNR, after the album was recorded. I think thats the trouble with a lot of the newer bands that are trying to pass for hard rock...most should still be in the garage.
Disclaimer: not meant to offend anyone who prefers music with no solos. Just my opinion......I'm old school.

Re: Rock Star Supernova Starts Tonight
Hey, watched the show while getting ready for work; only liked the 22 year old who did, "The Only One" 'cause she sung well, and looked hot!
And the little 4' 11" gal who sung "Piece of my Heart". She as well
.....
Sorry to go with the gals, but there were NO guys who sung well at ALL. The dude who sung Roxanne, and the last one who did Rebel Yell, blech!!!!
Should be interesting, the finale. That gal, the "freaky" one, got Tommy all hot and bothered, eh? Hmm....
